Can it be true? Lower premiums…. in Ontario?

FSCO hopes so. “Effective June 1, 2016, to help make insurance premiums more affordable, the benefits and coverages you receive in a standard auto insurance policy are changing – some have been reduced, and some options for increased coverage have been eliminated or changed.” FSCO. Below you will find the most significant changes.

Beyond reducing the benefits identified by FSCO there are choices we can make to lower our premiums. Finding a deductible that suits your economics is a good place to start. Take a look at the coverages you have through work as there may be duplication with the optional accident benefits. There are also roadside assistance programs you may have with CAA or as part of a new/used car purchase.

Some of the other ways to save on auto insurance are a bit trickier, for example if you live in Brampton, Woodbridge, Vaughan or Toronto a move to Cobourg, Napanee, Belleville and Kingston will likely save you hundreds of dollars in auto insurance.
